WORDS BY ANSELM

The Rambling Man has showcased another wave of British rock. This week's spotlight is on Edit The Tide, hailing from Swansea, Wales. This new band, formed last year, has released their debut EP, ' Reflections in Sound.' The five-track EP narrates their foray into the music industry with a progressive metal style, with vocal melodies and hooks that echo bands such as Biffy Clyro and Funeral For A Friend. They have graced the stage alongside notables such as the previously mentioned acts, as well as  Skindred and Bring Me The Horizon. The EP was produced by a newcomer producer  Sam Kilby at Unit 13 Music Studio Abe Fihema helped master the record at Luna Crown Audio.

It is quite an accomplishment for a new band to achieve so much before their debut release. I am always eager to introduce new acts to the readers of this blog, but they often don't gain much traction before their release. Currently, Edit The Tide appears to be riding a crescent wave of popularity. Their fusion of catchy choruses with melodic rhythms, which seem to contrast with one another, is reminiscent of the musical styles that emerged post-emo era.

I think 'Ambience' is a prime example of such a track. The powerful chorus strikes through the heart,  set against the backdrop of jagged guitars and polyrhythmic harmonies. 'Unite and Rebel' is next, an anthemic track that may seem disjointed occasionally. The spiralling vocals merge with the pounding drums and cascading guitar melodies.  The intricate blend of rhythms and complex time signatures contributes to intelligent songwriting, as each track resonates with the human senses. '' "Paradigm" is the standout track, with its compelling rhythms and heavy guitar sound creating a pull and tension. It has the potential to become a radio hit in the future.

The EP progresses, gently weaving vocal melodies with screeching cadences of riffs. 'With Regret' personifies the album's approach of contrasting harsh guitar sections with gentle vocals, creating a dynamic tension within the music. Finally, 'The Moment' provides a melancholic conclusion to this fresh, new release from Wales.

Overall, Edit The Tide displays glimpses of their emerging talent with thought-provoking lyrics, intricate guitar work, and outstanding vocals that signify their intentions.
