HEDRA HOLD THEIR HEADS HIGH ON THEIR LATEST SINGLE
WORDS BY ANSELM ANDERSON
England's heavyweights Hedra are back with a new music video for 'Head Held High', the second track is taken from their upcoming album "Ruin Everything"The album is believed to be coming out later this year, so keep your ears open for that one. I had the pleasure of writing a review for the band's 2022 EP 'The Pecking Order', which I remember lavishing praise over. "Head Held High" is one of the lighter tracks I enjoyed, but the band now releases a revamped version. I always viewed them as a grunge-type band with significant influences from Iron Maiden and Mastodon to name but a few.
This is a melodic song with an anthemic edge and thick, distorted guitars, which reminds one of bands like Creed. The band produced this 'remake' at Innersound Audio' with the help of Sam and Joe Graves. "Head Held High' is an anthem for the hard workers out there, left feeling uninspired in their current positions. The song is an encouragement to continue to persevere and try new things. A notion inspired by a friend of the band's sudden interest in plants. The animated video depicts the band performing at a circus.
Hedra was formed a decade ago by vocalist Jim Marten and guitarist Kamil Korsak in Norwich, England. The band have gone through the expected lineup changes throughout the seasons with the additions of drummer James Redden and bassist Daniel Older forming the latest iteration of Hedra. The band has released three EPs since the debut of "Polar Dimension" in 2016. '2022's double releases of "The Pecking Order" and 'Polaris" soon marked the band's introduction to the metal scene. The band soon followed that up with a successful 2023 being wrapped up by winning Band of the Year
