Album Review: Blue Oyster Cult- 50th Anniversary Live- First Night

Words by Anselm Anderson Today, the legendary Blue Oyster Cult have released 5 0th Anniversary Live-First Night  via Frontiers Music S.R.L. The Three-day event celebrates an incredible fifty years of Classic rock icons, recorded in September 2022. The 2-CD Deluxe edition divides the first night into two. As part of the extravaganza, the band played three sold-out shows at Sony Hall, NYC. During the set, the band played one of their first three albums- 1972's self-titled debut, 1973's Tyrants and Mutation, and 1974's Secret Treaties. The three-hour sets featured deep cuts and a special guest appearance from founding drummer Albert Bouchard. I have long been a fan of the group so any opportunity to review one of their releases brings joy to this writer. LP Review: Tarja- Rocking Heels: Live at Metal Church

Words by Anselm Anderson Tarja Turunen, also known as Tarja, gained popularity in the metal scene as the lead vocalist of Nightwish, a symphonic metal band, at the turn of the century. She captivated millions with her tenor vocals that included falsetto and octave-busting notes. Tarja pays tribute to her contemporaries and idols with a live album recorded at the Metal Church in Wacken, Germany. 300 fans watched her perform covers from bands like Linkin Park, Slipknot , Metallica, and Megadeth in a special one-time event that opened the Wacken Air Festival in 2016. ALBUM OF THE WEEK- MOTORHEAD- LOUDER THAN NOISE- LIVE IN BERLIN 2012

  Words by Anselm Anderson The legendary hellraisers  Motorhead recently released the live album Louder Than Noise-Live In Berlin  via Silver Lining Music on April 23rd. The performance was recorded on December 5th, 2012 in front of 12,000 fans at the Berlin Velodrome as part of the Kings of The Road  tour. The Lineup for this special occasion featured the longest reigning in the band's history with the late "Lemmy" Kilmister, guitarist Phil Campbell  and drummer Mikkey Dee . The concert was produced by the much-revered producer Herwig Meyszne r  ( Exodus, Kreator, Saxon). The album delivers twelve tracks of raucous rock 'n' roll, destined to blow your speakers out. The bone-rattling "I Know How to Die" opens proceedings with Lemmy declaring " WE ARE MOTORHEAD " to thunderous applause.
