Floridian rockers' The Buddy Blake Band are due to release upcoming album Riptide this Spring. The album was recorded live in front of 5 laptops at Mallory Music studios and produced by Byn Johns.
The Buddy Blake Band consists of Blake Bell ( Vocals/Rhythm Guitar) Buddy Bolter ( Vocals. Lead Guitar), Bob Matheson ( Drums) and Tom Mcmillan ( Bass). The band have been performing for over twenty years and are profoundly influenced by leading figures in the classic rock world such as led Zeppelin, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. The Allman Brothers and many more.
Riptide is an eleven-track album with those influences on display. The combination of guitar-driven rock, intelligent songwriting and powerful vocals certainly doesn't disappoint
The Self- titled opener is a throwback to seventies power trio pop-rock. Lead vocalist Blake Bell is the accomplished frontman with heartily cries of a relationship resonate with pounding drums and a steady rhythm section. Bell and Lead guitarist Buddy Bolter trade licks through the delicate basslines.
Leon is a funky track full of charm and enthusiasm. The mixture of screeching guitars interplay with a groove- orientated bassline that reminds this writer of Primus.
Evelyn is a resounding tribute to, what I think maybe, about a childhood sweetheart. TBBB raise the tempo with crunchy guitar riffs and vivid imagery. The band choose not to stick with one " Type " of song, but rather experiment with various styles. This certainly adds to the appeal and keeps the listener interested.
Ugly is a track about the difficulties in finding a job. I believe it is a sentiment most readers can relate all too well. The band attach storytelling to instrumental guitar breaks and wistful vocals that add to the frustrations. TBBB succeed the most on this outing with a style of writing that describes many people's situations with delightful riffs.
and finally, You're Free wraps up with this contemplative song about not feeling held down. Blake Bell's cathartic cries are matched by melodic riffs and steady drumming by Bob Matheson.
Overall, Riptide is an enjoyable listen through various aspects of perceptive lyrics, staunch guitar work, and a wholesome togetherness that exudes on the recordings.
Riptide is due out March/ April 2021 via online platforms.

The powerful trio revitalises metal, reminiscent of the good old days, with their 1980s-influenced style . Their high-octane vocals, pounding drums, and sizzling guitar solos evoke memories of iconic bands like Dio , Saxon , and Judas Priest while making a bold statement of intent. This eight-track release showcases the band's growth as a rising force in the United States and Europe. Wings of Steel was formed in 2019 in Los Angeles, USA . They released their self-titled debut EP three years later, followed by their first full-length album, titled Gates of Twilight , two years ago. Last year, the band released their first live album before embarking on their first European tour . They have performed at festivals such as The Whisky A Go Go and Up The Hammers ....
Written by Anselm Anderson Texan rock trio Little King has returned with their eighth studio album, Lente Viviente , which is their most progressive and ambitious work to date. The release was recorded a few months back in Arizona , marking the first time the band have recorded outside their native Texas. The band has made some personnel changes since their last outing six years ago. Drummer Tony Bojorquez joins guitarist and vocalist Ryan Rossoff , along with bassist and cellist David Hamilton , to record this seven-track release. The album draws similarities to prog rock icons Rush and Genesis while presenting a fresh and original approach. It sounds as though the band has undergone some serious soul-searching over those years. The album title Lente Viviente roughly translates to "Living Lens," a play on words of Rossoff's Video Memoir Production company, LivingLens Memoirs . It examines the balance between truth and perception, featuring thought-provoking lyrics...
Photo Credit: Josiah Sampson Edited by Anselm Anderson The All-American Rejects have released their latest track, ' Eggshell Tap Dancer , ' ahead of February's album release. The track continues the indie-leaning direction they explored with ' Search Party, ' blending pop sensibility with the band’s signature pop-rock power. Vocalist Tyson Ritter explains about the song, “‘Eggshell Tap Dancer’ is about performing tenderness until your feet bleed. The character in the song is tiptoeing around someone who probably stopped listening three exits ago, but he’s still there — pulling rabbits out of hats, making balloon animals out of his own arteries. In the end, I think it’s a love song written for someone who’s just detached from the world and madly in love with obsession.” The band is currently on an arena tour with the Jonas Brothers and is having arguably the biggest year of their career. They have experienced a significant resurgence, attracting a new generat...
