The British rock group Medusa has released an innovative new concert film titled "Medusa: Live in London - The Motion Picture" via Realm29 Films. Guitarist and singer-songwriter Julian Molinero played a key role in directing the film, which chronicles the band's journey and challenges as they prepare to perform on a boat.

What started as an independent project has evolved into an exciting initiative for this independent rock band, capturing the attention of Sky Arts and the British Film Industry. The concert film is set along the River Thames, but it features footage of the band on tour in the United States and North America. It transitions into an animated segment where the band performs and wreaks havoc in London. The video also explores the band's history, focusing on Julian Molinero, by visiting childhood homes, schools, and the venue of their first gig, all before the concert begins on the boat. The recording utilises cinematic black and white footage, providing a professional and intimate glimpse into the band.

The event showcases punk fans in London having a great time, alongside a marionette replica of Julian himself. The puppet acts as a stand-in for some lost footage.  The concert was originally recorded in 2022, but took the band two and a half years to complete, with only a few hiccups along the way. On the day of recording,  1st March 2023, The Sound engineer was cancelled the night before, so the band had to find a solution without a recording studio or any equipment for the gig. Fortunately, the band was able to resolve the issue. However, other complications arose, requiring the band to do a second recording at a nuclear bunker in London, where they offered fans free beverages to ensure a great time. Unfortunately, there was little footage from that performance, so they booked another date at Dublin Castle in Camden. However, due to the double booking, the owner had arranged a meeting with several pub owners in the same room as the Medusa gig. To fill in the gaps from the missing footage, Molinero purchased a marionette that resembled him. He operated the puppet with assistance from local businesses in London to recreate his attire from the original recordings on the boat, including a local lady to assist with the Mohair jumper, and hairdressers in Kentish Town and Camden to help recreate his mop of hair.

Medusa is a three-piece punk rock band formed in Blackburn, England, in 1998, led by Julian Molinero. They have gone through several lineup changes and have released four studio albums to date, including 2020's "In Bed with Medusa." The video features bassist Kotaro Suzuki and drummer Moyana El Buffalo.
