Today, Bristol's rock trio Oswald Slain released their highly anticipated debut EP "Kiss Me on the Mouth" as an independent record.
Rambling Man's Reviews has supported this band over the last several months with positive outlooks of their singles 'UGLY' and 'Happiness is Overrated'. The evocative songwriting and tongue-in-cheek humour piqued my interest as I prepared for this release. Recorded by Jason Mitchell in their home studio, Kiss Me on the Mouth is five tracks of firebrand indie rock and self-proclaimed Americana.
The EP captures the raw energy and personality of the group as they prepare for a mini tour of the British Isles next week, in support of the EP. The lascivious 'UGLY' kicks off things with a take on the 1997 American film Boogie Nights, a critique of the 1970's porn industry. The dirty blues riff supplements the seedy vocals, reminiscent of the American roots music. Next up is the thick basslines and reggae beats of "Sean Paul", a tribute to the Reggae hall musician of the 2000s. The EP chooses to stick with the British Indie route with strong songwriting and easy listening tracks. The rhythm section complements this laid-back approach on the release. Tracks like "Mystery Bag" and "Baby Boy" reflect this assertion with an anthemic vibe, whilst the title track "Kiss Me on the Mouth" is a soulful track with a guitar-driven sound.
Overall, Oswald Slain provides listeners with further insight into their unique take on the Americana scene with a distinctly British edge.

The powerful trio revitalises metal, reminiscent of the good old days, with their 1980s-influenced style . Their high-octane vocals, pounding drums, and sizzling guitar solos evoke memories of iconic bands like Dio , Saxon , and Judas Priest while making a bold statement of intent. This eight-track release showcases the band's growth as a rising force in the United States and Europe. Wings of Steel was formed in 2019 in Los Angeles, USA . They released their self-titled debut EP three years later, followed by their first full-length album, titled Gates of Twilight , two years ago. Last year, the band released their first live album before embarking on their first European tour . They have performed at festivals such as The Whisky A Go Go and Up The Hammers ....
Photo Credit: Kirsten Southwell Edited by Anselm Anderson Singer-songwriter Lillian King released her debut album, In Your Long Shadow, on Friday, October 24th, via Pronounced Kroog . The album was written in the aftermath of her father's passing and reflects on themes of grief, family, and the depression that can accompany loss. Across ten songs, Lillian draws inspiration from quiet meditations during walks, old rivers, and the strange comfort found in repetition. Her delivery is marked by a voice that is both strikingly soulful and understated. The album highlights Lilian's talent as a songwriter, making it a deeply personal project. After years of performing in basements in Montreal to solo sets across the United States and North America, these experiences have helped her hone her skills, bringing her career to the brink of wider recognition. Spencer Krug , whose label Pronounced Kroog took Lillian under its wing after a chance tour pairing in 2024. has been key to this ...
Photo Credit: Josiah Sampson Edited by Anselm Anderson The All-American Rejects have released their latest track, ' Eggshell Tap Dancer , ' ahead of February's album release. The track continues the indie-leaning direction they explored with ' Search Party, ' blending pop sensibility with the band’s signature pop-rock power. Vocalist Tyson Ritter explains about the song, “‘Eggshell Tap Dancer’ is about performing tenderness until your feet bleed. The character in the song is tiptoeing around someone who probably stopped listening three exits ago, but he’s still there — pulling rabbits out of hats, making balloon animals out of his own arteries. In the end, I think it’s a love song written for someone who’s just detached from the world and madly in love with obsession.” The band is currently on an arena tour with the Jonas Brothers and is having arguably the biggest year of their career. They have experienced a significant resurgence, attracting a new generat...
