TWO TONE PUNK ROCKERS THE PLANET SMASHERS ANNOUNCES NEW LP, RELEASES THE ANTHEMIC' MEET ME ON THE DANCEFLOOR'

Canadian Ska band, The Planet Smashers, have released their first single, ahead of their new album on August 22nd.'Meet Me On The Dancefloor' is taken from their upcoming tenth studio album, entitled ' On the Dancefloor', via Stomp Records.

Formed over thirty years ago, The Planet Smashers have built a reputation with their ska-punk music, capturing the imagination of fans across Europe and Japan. With over 30 million streams on Spotify, numerous sold-out shows, and appearances in everything from MTV’s Undergrads to Japan’s cult animation series Catman, the band has toured throughout North America, Europe, and Japan, sharing stages with icons while remaining loyal to their fanbase. Matt Collyer, the founding frontman, also co-founded Stomp Records, a label that helped to launch some of Canada's most celebrated alternative acts.


“Meet Me On The Dancefloor” is an energetic anthem full of fun and catchy tunes. The track is reminiscent of bands like The Specials. On the Dancefloor features 13 tracks centred on topics like love songs, breakup anthems, protest tunes, and fun anthems, full of wit and infectious energy. threaded with the band’s contagious optimism and biting wit. Ska legends Neville Staple (The Specials), Charley “Aitch” Bembridge (The Selecter), and Sara Johnston (Bran Van 3000) all contribute to the record, bringing extra depth and pedigree to the chaos.

The band’s album matches their live show, full of punk rock and carnival, and the new material was written with that experience in mind. “On the Dancefloor was the funnest of our 10 albums to record,” says Collyer. “I can’t wait to play these songs live! The process was rad from start to finish. All of my bandmates got their hands in there. Plus, we had the pleasure of teaming up with ska legends and longtime friends. Fun times!”
