Newcomers UUHAI create a captivating sound from the Mongolian steppe with their debut album, Human Herds, out January 9, 2026, via Napalm Records. The blending of throat singing and horsehead fiddles with heavy music marks part of their signature sound. The seven-piece band will unleash a debut album that draws from the history and nature of Mongolia. Human Herds reflects on their roots and modern society, delivering a powerful message all in Mongolian.
Human Herds impresses with language and instruments unfamiliar to most. It is an insight into the heart of Mongolia that you won’t get anywhere else, in both storytelling and musical delivery. With deep gratitude and respect, UUHAI creates an emotional ode to nature and delivers a grassroots message to society. This debut album is a powerful reminder that on this earth, we are all the same.
UUHAI says about Human Herds:
“Human Herds is a reflection on the unstoppable tide of humanity—our migrations, our revolts, our worship, and our wounds upon the Earth. Yet in our chaos, we must remember: we all live under one sun and one moon on Earth, sharing the same fragile home.”

On the new album, UUHAI takes on the role of perceptive storytellers, guiding listeners through the spirit and soundscape of the Far East. The album begins with a tone-setting, appropriately atmospheric intro for the title track, “Human Herds”. A galloping hard rock anthem calling upon the forefathers, which is a colourful description of nature’s beauty, along with the urge to take better care of a weeping Mother Earth, instead of watching her destruction. The overarching theme of the album "Uuhai" powerfully conveys how Mongolia historically drew its strength from its connection to the land, dispelling evil spirits and rival nations. The album culminates in a chant of the band's name, which serves as a battle cry for good fortune. European fans will have the opportunity to join in during the upcoming tour.
"Khar Khulz" includes sing-along passages that paint vivid images, making you want to book the next flight to Ulaanbaatar. Throughout their diverse debut album, UUHAI demonstrates a remarkable ability to create both intimate settings that showcase age-old rituals and catchy hits as a heavy rock band.
The journey concludes with "Secret History of the Mongols," named after the oldest surviving literary work in the Mongolic language, dated to the late 1220s. This final track captivates with its enticing atmosphere, an emotional guitar solo, and another round of goosebump-inducing "uuhai" chants, all invoking a collectively bright future.
