Rambling Man introduces Toronto’s melodic punk lifers Wasting Time. They returned last week with their new single “Ripped Blue Jeans” via People of Punk Rock Records. It’s an anthemic, pop-punk track, reminiscent of 90's MTV bands like Green Day and Weezer. The track captures that feeling of late 90s freedom and dreams of becoming a big rock band, selling out arenas everywhere.

Formed in 2017, Wasting Time has steadily built a catalogue through its melodies. They have released five EPs, three full-length albums, and a streak of singles that evoke acts like  Alkaline TrioNo Use for a NameMxPxBlink-182, and Green Day. Their latest release, Hurry Up and Wait, cemented their reputation as one of Canada’s most reliable carriers of melodic punk tradition, and “Ripped Blue Jeans” only deepens that lineage. Mixed and mastered by Matt Gauthier at Arc Studios, the single offers the first taste of their upcoming full-length, Are You Out Of Your God Damn Mind?, due out in the new year.

The song captures the spirit of simpler times, before algorithms and playlists, when the mention of CDs and discovering new bands, along with the soundtracks of Tony Hawk Pro Skater, evoked a vivid image of baggy Dickies, chain wallets, and flannel shirts tied around the waist. It’s a tribute to every kid who scribbled lyrics in the margins of their school binders or fell asleep with the album Dookie playing on repeat. "Wasting Time" captures that essence without simply imitating it; it’s not just nostalgia for nostalgia's sake, but rather a reminder of why those songs were meaningful in the first place.

Order Wasting Time’s Music and Merchandise

Wasting Time has toured extensively across Canada, Japan, and Korea, earning their reputation through tight sets, long drives, and nights that turn strangers into friends. They’ve brought their sharp, melodic edge to major festivals, including Pouzza Fest, Canadian Music Week, and Rock La Cauze, and have shared stages with genre heroes such as Smoking Popes, Mad Caddies, Unwritten Law, and Econoline CrushTheir name continues to spread city by city, show by show, with more live dates on the horizon,

“Ripped Blue Jeans” captures a moment in time when punk music was shared through physical means, burned onto discs, and played at high volumes in borrowed basements. It serves as a love letter to the 90s scene that inspired the band, while also affirming that those melodies still hold significance today. Wasting Time is not simply trying to relive the past; they are actively moving it forward, one catchy sing-along chorus at a time.

CoverArtwork Courtesy of San Pr Words Written by Anselm Anderson Today marks the final chapter of an emphatic trilogy by British Metalcore Heavyweights , Virtue in Vain . Nothing is All I Am ' is the third instalment exploring human emotions and psyche.  The trio began their journey in 2015 with their debut EP,  For All You Know is the Mask I Wore ,  focusing on the loss of identity, before 2019's   Dusk//Dawn looking at the consequences of a terrible night out, whilst 'Nothing is All I Am ' focuses on rebuilding a fractured mind. The trio of lead vocalist Hywel Thomas, guitarist Mason Williams, and drummer Daniel Bryant hail from South Wales deliver another dose of metalcore that hits like a sledgehammer to the head. The band replicates what many other British bands of the genre do, but they bring a story behind their music. Their emotional cries blend with powerful riffs and down-tuned instrumentals that resonate long after the music has stopped. Their...
